i understand very well what you're saying. 1. a pump doesn't run 24/7 to keep these filled. if there was no tank, you'd run a big pump ALL DAY EVERYDAY.

Outside of running a huge pump 24/7, this is the preferred method of generating water pressure. Replace this with a closed system and you're good to go.
