@minibeardeath: Yeah google only does it 'accidentally' with 'unfortunate left-over experimental code' (google streetview) and 'accidentally used blanket EULA' (google chrome beta) that gives them more rights over you than a power-of-attorney for a braindead patient

@achalddave: Nobody reads EULA, and apparently very few people realize what MS did in the past (and is doing now) in the data gathering field, plus it's all legal if it's 'not personable identifiable' but they ALWAYS use lame tricks to make that protection as solid as a plain sheet of paper in a warzone.

@kazemizuhi: I guess we'll have to wait and see, people can be a bit hard to predict sometimes.

@Aquifel: I have to say there's some truth to that, but the link has the name comedy in it, that should help people realize.

@JAlexoid: How about drifting away in thought in quiet moments? Ever did that? That really makes you not notice your surroundings and react slow, so we should find something to prevent that, something that keeps you in the now, let's say have you talk to someone, that should work.

@y8s: I can't argue there

@alek2407: Shhh, don't tell google.

@bgplpshep: I thought he looked like your standard leather bar gay guy, not that that might not be based on the same.

I think only US made killer robots will do x-mas, the japanese and korean ones probably will not, and that then no doubt will be the first robot war right there.

Is it just me or do you too read that as 'revenue'? And I can't stop it either.

@2matrix: NSA has a similar issue, whenever they use their computers they see somebody else their account.

And, not only that but you get an option to chance the color of the letters that say 'video not available in your area'!

@Hilo: Well is it illegal to talk to someone in a car? I mean it might be a bit unwanted to make a global ban against video-calling, if you use a handsfree system and people can see you but you don't really watch the screen then it's not dangerous, or you could have a system where you are seen but you can't see them

So did they not just make a few picture of all of them lighted and all of them not lighted then simply used software to selectively 'erase background' to get the effect?

@SharpnPointy: Well we are gizmodo commenters and a bit geeky so we can handle it :) but can 'normal' people?

@kazemizuhi: That's not enough this time I fear, you have to hide the video-calling thing by making it out as not being video-calling, because people just don't want face-to-face over the phone by default, not even an iphone.
