The only thing that saddens me about my ‘08 TurboX is that isn’t quite weird enough.

Sorry, for that kind of money I am not buying some ‘roided out SUV that Guy Fieri probably already owns in yellow.
When you crash hard all the seat belts stretch. Including the belts on the HANS. That’s about what it looks like.
Running driving weird wagon for under $1500. That’s pretty much an automatic NP.
I don’t care if they are heaps of shit, if I ever have the disposable income, I’m buying one. I just think of them as the DSM of exotics: portly built, temperamental, and broken as often as running, but still so Goddamn sweet I just refuse to accept its a bad idea.
Also: R12 refrigerant A/C.
Thanks for the props.
Yes, very helpful advice for the millions of people who lease and will continue to do so. Telling people not to lease is like telling people not to have sex. It’s going to happen, people are going to do it. It’s my job to make sure they have the most information possible to they get the best deal they can.
I’m a currant E36 Compact owner and it’s even smaller than Corolla small haha.
Almost bought a manual/4x4 for $500 but it was catastrophically upstate-New York-rusted underneath. Like, one good speed bump away from catastrophe. But honestly now I kinda wish I’d picked it up anyway.
I can kinda empathize as I did my last vehicle purchase while hobbling around on crutches. I don’t think I got screwed necessarily, but although I didn’t exactly love the deal, I simply wasn’t in the mood to push back much or literally walk away to find a better deal, as it was hard to get around and didn’t want to…
Based on what the vehicle requires over 3 years, I figure you could do it all yourself for 500 bucks or so. But I definitely think there is some value in the convenience of not having to do it yourself, getting a loaner vehicle, and having some extra proof for volkswagen should the vehicle have a catastrophic failure…
With a lease, you have a money factor that is applied to a specific portion of what you pay. So, on a lease you do not pay “interest” or its equivalent on the maintenance. Many states do charge a simple tax on the entire payment though, and if you roll the plan into your deal, you will pay tax on it where normally you…
Also factor in the financing costs associated with incorporating the maintenance plan balance into the loan on a new car or lease. In this particular case, the savings likely exceed the costs even with a higher financing rate but you’d be surprised how much lenders can make off of maintenance plans that are added to 4…
Alfa 4C.
Look, I get why the dealer’s F&I guy comes down so hard on people. F&I has a much higher profit margin than the car sale does itself and those guys get paid from those sales. Hate the game, not the player. But I play my own dodgy game: I decline GAP, Maintenance and Warranty. They magically lower my interest payment…
Edmunds lists the 3 year maintenance cost for a GTI as:
Year 1: 433
Every GTI comes with of free factory maintenance that covers first 24months/24000 miles. It used to be 36months/36k miles few years ago, but they have changed it. You got screwed... you basically paid for something that was already included.
I did the same thing, but caved on the $5/month tire and wheel protection
