Wagon Manual - Hunting for the elusive E46 325iT.
The New York Times, while not infallible, is not in the realm of “fake news.”
Thank you! It was so loosely worded so that John in California who got in a fender bender with his TDI and never had it repaired would still be offered a settlement. Not so Joe in Cincinnati could strip every possible piece off the car (that by the way, was presumably on his car at the date of the settlement) and try…
I think they shouldn’t. Fuck those bad faith actors. They should have to put it back together.
That’s part of what’s irritating about guys like Joe. They’re why every warranty and contract has 50,000 lines of silly 9-pt type buried somewhere in them. Why ladders have warnings on them they aren’t flotation devices or whatever.
He almost ruined it for everyone. There will be other car buybacks at some point. VW’s agreement was supposed to get around haggling over wear and tear. Had this idiot succeeded, other agreements would have been written to ding you for every scratch.
I’m not at all surprised. If someone bought a fully assembled VW TDI and VW is buying it back, VW deserves to get nothing less than a fully assembled car in return.
Actually, buying the Sportwagen TDI would have been a fantastic deal. With the buyout money, you could be driving a 2017 Accord today without paying a single cent more.
I really like the Honda Element pop top conversions. I’d argue that’s a similar vehicle in concept but with factory AWD and survivable in a crash.
Amazing what you can do with an internet connection and the right set of tools. That said, if you have a normal 9-6 job and any kind of commute, having a laundry list of maintenance items can get pretty damn exhausting.
Rolling over $800 in negative equity isn’t the worst financial decision you could make, it’s not like it’s a ton of money, especially when you would’ve likely spent at least that much in repairs to keep it running. The people who are in this endless cycle are rolling over several thousands of dollars every few years…
Right?! This car is a sad part of history that we should never forget! I went NP too, ha ha ha…
This is actually a great idea, I’ve always done it when my Tundra is in the air. Even the narrowest of Tercel wheels will give you 4" or 5", might be the difference when a tie rod is trying to enter your eye socket.
Here you go! Ive been CL stalking it for a while. One owner 88 GT with Tan leather and manual.
If it actually had the tan leather that the ad states, it would be the holy grail Fieros. With the cloth, it is a slightly lesser chalice, but is still quite the metaphor mixing unicorn.
You may actually have a point. A teacher at a high school near me has a SAAB 900 Turbo SPG Convertible, which is immensely cool. But yes, he loved that Supra, and it was fully loaded. He bought a pearl white Acura Legend LS 4AT Coupe to replace it.
Dad’s first car was a SAAB 99 Turbo, in Sweden. He had a crash in it, walked away, had the car fixed. His friend was an engineer at SAAB, and he and my dad put a rally engine into it (not sure of the specifics, just that “It was stupid fast”.). He sold it before he moved to Canada. Then almost bought a Maserati…
Eric is me in any situation ever.
It’s got a warranty for a reason, right?
