This would be great to buy for a road trip with some friends. Then sell afterwards. Cheaper then renting!

Counterpoint: These things are ND when new, and MB is laughing to the bank every time some rich American yahoo buys one. True market values are irrelevant as they continue to be ND as they travel down the food chain. In other words, just because a Gucci bag is 4-figures, doesn’t mean it’s worth 4-figures.
I rented a Nissan Pulsar a few years back to drive from Florence to Rome. Diesel, manual transmission, 4-door hatch. That thing got 80mpg (used a 1/4 tank I think), and was a hoot to drive on some of the twisty mountain backroads I side tripped on. Sure, I had to shift into first to get up some switchbacks, but it…
Came here to see if anyone is old enough to remember this similar VW collaboration. I ended up with one of these guitars as well - if I recall, VW had problems getting anyone to buy the actual collaboration car, and had a lot of the guitars left over. I think I knew someone at the dealer who got one for me; but I also…
I certainly agree with a lot of commenter’s points about many new cars not having “easy access neutral/parking brake access”.
Considering this car’s predecessor (Z3 M-Coupe) was sitting at absurd $40k+ prices well before the pandemic, I’m going with NP. You get a chassis that isn’t based off of a 1980's E30, and imo, a much cleaner design (I still love seeing these in motorsports format).
Boomers live for this shit. And sure, I’m stereotyping, but I can think of many fathers (including my own) where going out and finding that “deal” was the weekend hobby (instead of the things that lazy, poor people do, like go for a walk, or play golf).
This. There’s a whole generation of folks where negotiating is part of the buying process, and that generation is dying out (sorry to be put it into such blunt terms).

I bet Mitsubishi didn’t even bother time capsuling one of these. If they gave a shit about the US Market, this might stand a chance of getting sold back to them, or maybe trade for a new whateverthenameofthat SUV is. As is, their museum is probably also saying a solid ND.
Giving this an Irrational NP as well.
Any car with a manual transmission.
Agreed, and also wanted to point out that I don’t think these were available with SMG unless you did a special-special order. So this person swapped out a standard-auto transmission, which is a much bigger job then turning an SMG into a manual. Whole new transmission, etc.
It’s one thing to manual swap a car that was not available as a manual, or are pretty hard to find with 3 pedals. That’s not really the case with 335s (or any of the Bimmers with this turbo motor from that era). To each there own, but it seems like for something as otherwise plain-jane as this car, it’d make more…
I had a 2002 1.8t GTI - owned from new and ranks up there as my least problematic car owned (granted, the others have been an assortment of BMWs, Saabs, and Volvos).
Lol - yeah, the way comments have been going, you need to subtract at least $1000 from the sticker price of a car for every year of it’s age. Which would mean that a lot of these “responsible adults” wouldn’t take this unless someone was paying them to!
These are unicorns, especially with the 3 pedals - I spent a hot minute shopping for one pre-crazy-times, and came up empty handed. You’re right in that all the just-missed-opportunities had these going in the high 4-digits (and all had this many miles on them).
I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out. In my experience, lack of owner automotive knowledge (this based solely on this person working with the Merc’s carburetor) can go 1 of 2 ways: Either something stupid simple (like a dirty fuel filter), or something stupid complex. I mean, if he’s pouring gas into a…
U-haul also doesn’t guarantee reservations. In other words, when you are getting ready to move all your stuff into the 26 foot truck that you reserved 2 month ago, you can show up that day and they’ll say “Sorry, we don’t have one. But we do have a 10 foot van for you!”
I wouldn’t call my dad a legit car enthusiast (per my current definition of car enthusiasts), but he definitely appreciated cars enough that it rubbed off on me at a very young age. I started as more of a “Consumer Reports” enthusiast versus “Hot Rod Magazine” lol. Since he immigrated from China/Taiwan as an adult, I…
