I would like to point out that the seller took the time to organize the small parts into individual, labeled zip-lock bags. Compare this to the usual oil-stained cardboard box with parts spilling out the sides. This was a project that was meant to be seen through.

Only reason to swap would be if the original transmission had somehow blown up (hard since BMW manual transmissions are pretty bombproof).

Since that’s the same transmission that came with the car, and that is in the Manual 6-spd E46 M3 as it left the factory, it should drive exactly like a manual 6-spd E46 M3. 

The article is reading like the transmission was swapped. I read the ad, and as a lot are assuming, it was converted to a manual and didn’t receive a whole new transmission.

I know that beige is the worst color for an interior, but with only 50k, that carpet looks as dingy as my beater X5 with 150k! You’d think that with an exotic like this, you’d at least wash your hands before climbing in (and maybe put on a clean pair of pants??)

At some point when you’re tearing out the perfectly serviceable interior of a car in order to turn it into a track car, you might start questioning what you’re doing.

Someone should tell the seller about BaT. Let this car skyrocket in value, bringing every single other poor little old Mazda to unobtainable prices for the base enthusiast market.

I dunno - BaT is a pretty stupid place. Pretty sure at least a third of the buyer/sellers are treating that site like the stock market and flipping cars every few months for profit. Well, for starters, I would turn around and find another way. It’s not like you’re just driving along, minding your own business, when a crowd of protesters magically appears out of nowhere and starts pounding on your windows. 

I wouldn’t call it the “billionaire set”. But when BAT madness ensues, I don’t think it’s a kid taking a 30k loan on a 30 year old car as their daily driver (if it is, I have an excellent financial planner I could recommend!)

Quick web search shows the least expensive M-Coupe (1999) at $24k w/ over 100k miles.

NP: If nothing else, it’s worth a look if you’re local and in the market. If this were a “I know what I got” seller - you know, the “I don’t need to wash it because this car would sell if it were on jackstands”, this would be at a 5-digit price. I’m with you on this - I read the headline and thought, “what’s so custom about that?” I guess it shows how much I follow Dodge, but never knew (or cared?) that a convertible wasn’t an option. Learn something new everyday!
