I’m fine with folks calling VW crap. They’re a big company - not like they’re going to go out of business because a demographic thinks they’re unreliable.
The first accident I was in that was not my fault (yes, I had lots of incidents in High School), the other insurance party (ahem, Geico) used "their" repair shop. The accident involved damage at the font door hinge. Instead of replacing panels, the shop did a hack bondo job, and the door never closed correctly. Being…
Did you just compare the sales of a car in one market segment and price-point, to that of a car in another?
I'm still confused. Is it like a sequential gearbox? Can it be driven without moving any levers? (Like an auto with D, 3, 2, 1)
That's just how good the thieves are. They hacked the video cameras and blurred out their faces.
An older sporty Honda with the original intake?! NP right there.
They can get pretty complex. Not justifying the price, but a system (parts) is anywhere from $500 to $3k or so. Not including labor. Now, take a factory car where you're plumbing the system from the floor up. That's not exactly something that would be done at the dealership if they want it to be clean.
Pretty sure at least 3 of those guys are just leaning on the car.
I'm a transplant from DC. Everyone thinks I'm crazy when I say the traffic up here isn't that bad.
This car will not be a success for the same reason that the Prius beat out the Honda Civic Hybrid. I don't know which is actually better then the other, but the Prius won not based on it's mechanics, but on it's "experience." What's the point of driving an futuristic, alt-fuel car if it doesn't feel like the future?
You get a Volkswagen Golf that hasn't been built ground-up for electric driving, but rather has been adapted to it. What that means is that instead of having a floor lined with lithium-ion batteries, a la the $75,000 Tesla Model S, Volkswagen just shoved a couple of batteries where the spare tire would be.
Who in the hell goes into craigslist and searches "Peugeot"? Where do you find these things?
The real answer is any of those "exotics" that Tavarish keeps posting with horrid depreciation. Fun, European-Safety, and excellent life lessons in how to figure out what to do when your car doesn't work.
Those are still a little too sporty, and hold their value pretty well. What you want is a 2002 E-Class Wagon:
Why would you say RWD based AWD systems are better then FWD based ones?
Your post made me check my local craigslist ads, where I quickly found this:
Gotta love hanging out in the right-hand tractor trailer lane while going into the mountains!
Have you seen prices for these recently? I'm fairly certain that a diesel W123 wagon in equal condition, with equal mileage would get $10k plus.
