Maybe if the asshat had *calmly approached the situation, as opposed to immediately coming off as a hot-headed, cussing, bad-tempered asshole of an asshat, the witnesses wouldn't have so quickly jumped on the side the man laying on the ground getting verbally attacked.

My last car was a base E46 wagon. Non-car friends would come up and say, Wow, you drive a BMW!? They would then get this look about them like I was way out of their league, spoiled, rich (we'll let you pay for dinner, Mr. BMW).

As close as they got to that twister, and as stationary and steady as the filming was, these guys probably just added more to tornado research then half the Storm Chasers out there. You don't need an awesome armored car to chase storms. You just need to be a drunk redneck with a cell phone camera!

Aside from being Tom Cruise's car in Rain Man, I don't know much about these cars. So I looked up current values - looks like they're in 328 territory ($25k-ish). So no real need to shed tears.

Same deal here (in Boston). My wife had a minor hit in rush-hour traffic, at night, in the rain. After checking out the car, she didn't see any damage so just got the lady's digits and plate and kept going.

If you're going to put MB hatch on this list, you have to add the BMW 318ti. Unfortunately, the jalopnikers are probably so in love with the 318ti that you couldn't possibly handle the ensuing flame war that would probably result some short man in an E46 M3 tweeting you from outside your home.

That would explain the shocked look my Czech friend gave me when I bought a GTI hatchback over a Jetta!

My friends from Europe look at me like an idiot when I get excited about wagons. From what I understand, they're all over the place in Europe - I guess it would be akin to getting excited over an Accord sedan over here.

You're 100% correct - there are no immediate competitors in this class. We get a few 4-door hatches, such as the Focus and an Impreza (that tries to call itself a wagon). The next closest thing in size might be a 3-series wagon - although I'm not even sure if that's still available, not to mention it's probably close

Wouldn't be the first time. A couple years back, there were 2 deaths at California Speedway involving a Carrera GT. Multiple parties were sued in that one, including Porsche.

If the basis for this poll is reliability, has an NP ever shown up?

BTW - $4500 for a good condition SPG? If it's rust free and low-ish mileage, as a closet Saab enthusiast, NP all the way. That's a sick price. I'd take that over a GM Viggen any day.

I just voted - judging by the comments, you'd think the CP was winning. I'm glad it's the other way around.

I see everyone blasting this. But the National Guard's generous donation allowed an entire racing team exist.

I was just trying to remember this! I remember watching this on 60-minutes or something when I was a kid. Catastrophic failures, everyone dies, etc.

I wonder how many people replying to this are actually cash paying Porsche customers. If not, then you really have no basis for your opinion.

Closest thing in the states is a Boston rotary.

I think we can agree that all wagons are hatchbacks, but not the other way around. For instance, even though the 4-door Golf shares an identical wagon-esque hatch profile to the Jetta wagon, it is not a wagon for other reasons.

I think you're confusing terminology here. The old WRX Wagon was equally referred to as a wagon and a hatchback. Technically, any wagon is a hatchback - it's just some old-school, long wheelbase boats get the "wagon" name, whereas a 2-door econocar often gets the "hatchback" name. The article is referring to Subaru's

My mom had an 87 Volvo 740 - bought it new. When I got my license 10 years later, I got an 88 Volvo 740. We found out one day that the keys were the same for both cars - which I always found pretty neat. What are the chances of that, right?
