There's been some interesting ideas lately with using rope lights - suggestion #3 could really be used in lots of different ways. I've really been considering doing the rope light ambient desk lighting that was posted a while back as well.

@madara: I use musikcube at work because of the simple interface, shuffling (Ctrl+Alt+A) and because it's so lightweight. It might not have the heavy-duty features of your winamps, iTunes, & WMP, but it might be what you're looking for.
