I see the sense in sticking with windows 7, but I don't really see the sense in moving to a new platform, the reason a lot of people don't like the metro ui is cuz they don't want to learn how to use it so how does moving to a different platform and learning an ENTIRE new operating system make any sense?

Yeah, I see where you're coming from I'm really hoping for a traditional start menu option / boot straight into desktop option as well, but I can certainly live with a 3rd party fix, would kinda suck but as long as it's set it and forget it, I can live with it.

Have you done any research into the revamped architecture like the new memory management system or the fact that the system requirements have been lowered? Windows 8 is not "just like Windows 7." Windows 8 has even given Crysis a 10 fps boost in some tests.

As it stands now, yes, but think about this. Have you ever downloaded firefox or chrome on a new computer because the default internet explorer kinda sucks? Was that really that big of a hassle?

Seems pretty petty to me, but your decisions are your decisions.

You guys can have fun complaining about the metro ui (essentially just the start menu, but full screen.) I'll be enjoying my 10 fps boost in Crysis.

People who say there is no difference between Win 7 and Win 8 if you take away the Metro UI have a very poor grasp on the new features of Win 8. One good example is the revamped memory management system which in plain terms scans for duplicate instances of things like dll files and gets rid of them running off of a

Indeed it does, I don't know why people are choosing to ignore this fact so often. The desktop is literally a click away, hell you can even launch the desktop based application via the metro ui and it will jump you not only into the desktop but the application as well with one click.

It's okay Boys, they said I didn't look scary either.
