You need to spend less time defending yourself on the internet and more time self reflecting to figure out why on earth the headline exactly how it is suggests TO YOU that the interviewee doesn’t deserve respect. Why do you think this 100% factual phrase struck you as “villifying”? The answer to this question is

professionalism is subjective, she is your writer, not your waitress, you do not get to be mean to her without repercussion

The headline describes exactly what happened.

That’s where we differ — I don’t view abortion as murder. Which is good because I don’t think I could get behind thinking something is murder in one circumstance but not in another.

And even if they do — their body, their choice.

She could have died. YES it is her decision. The father has nothing to say about it. Period.

I cannot even imagine how many women ( just in this country!) who do not have any options. Too poor, too far away from care, and probably little sympathy from her community. It’s heart-breaking.

Your explanation doesn’t change a thing. You unambiguously implied some abortions are ok and others aren’t, and you continued to do so in your explanation. You were wrong.

Except that your assumption that the headline was vilifying her — your immediate, gut reaction assumption that the late-term abortion was a bad abortion — WAS judgement on her. You immediately assumed it was vilifying her, because you immediately vilified her before you read it.

What I *think* she is talking about is the differencebetween a “medically necessary “ late term abortion and someone who just wanted 32 weeks to abort an otherwise “normal” pregnancy. Which is bullshit.

“I’m somewhere in the middle where a woman has a choice until it actually becomes a person (developed), but doctors should also have more flexibility to terminate these pregnancies later in the game when it becomes a toss up between the woman or the baby dying.”

You got issues if you think anyone is spending 10-25 thousand dollars to just abort a baby cause they changed their minds. No one is waiting that long and going “nah I’m good”. Most people who need the abortion that late can not afford it thanks to overbearing assholes who want to outlaw it to the point where only 4

Hey dipshit, sounds like the father was 100% on board. Even if he wasn’t he wasn’t the one who had to go through the physical pain that the mother was.

I think you actually just pointed out the flaw in so many people’s thinking when it comes to opposing abortion access for women.

I know it’s so hard and painful to do, but I wish more people would talk about their miscarriages and other fertility issues. I was completely shocked when I realized how common it is, and I think it would help a lot with the feelings of failure that so many women have when they have trouble conceiving or carrying.

Hang in there. <3

I’m ugly-crying at work. I had to close my door. This story is heart-breaking in itself, but the fact that closed-minded mean little people make it so much harder is infuriating.

is there any way to donate to the clinic that performed it? even if it’s just going to fix the leaky roof, they deserve as much help as they can get for offering their services to women in situations like this.

I’m not a crier. I rarely cry. But I cried now. What a brave woman. What a scary country we live in. I just dearly hope it doesn't get any scarier than it already is for anyone who is not a cishet white man.

My heart broke into one thousand pieces for this woman. my god. MY GOD. I CANNOT.
