Probably up until about 4 years ago, practically every Australian used a Nokia phone. Smartphones of the WinMo / Symbian variety were few and far in between (and usually only offered by Telstra over pricey plans), so no one used those either.

@PSUSkier: You said it yourself - countries with Latin alphabet might not have any issues, but what about countries that *don't* use it? I think the designer (being Japanese), probably tried to come up with symbols that would be universally recognised and describable no matter what language was spoken in the

@PSUSkier: Yes, because game consoles aren't only sold in English-speaking countries.

@Turkieshooter: I can safely say Apple Australia are too cheap to give free cases.

my ageing P4 work computer's fan went on overdrive as soon as that page opened in Firefox... pretty but no thanks. Just do it in flash next time... it's less taxing on my comp.

@Ruiz: same point as all those swoosh and zoom-in-out animations that all "modern" smartphone OS'es have these days.

@goaliegeek: if you're so anti-eye candy, go use WinMo 6.5 (or lower). I'm sure you'll *love* the lack of useless animations and fancy gloss that you fail to see the point of.

For european/rest of the world Motorola customers, it's more like "NO SUPPORT GIVEN" :(

no point. with all the built-in batteries *cough* apple *cough* gadgets have these days, by the time it's old enough to be a heirloom it'd be totally non-functional either because battery for it doesn't exist anymore or can't be replaced because it's buried deep inside a "tamper-proof" case.

@peter46: "Not being able to sync my media to my phone would be a deal breaker. Why is this not available in such a sophisticated OS like Android? "

@iElvis: Completely agree - as someone whose parents came from a manufacturing background in HK, what you just stated is a much more likely scenario than an "honest" factory tour.

@a-red: Agree with most of the post except for the part that Hong Kong has taken over China. It's really the other way around.

Looks more like the future of Dubai after global warming has raised sea levels and drowned all the poor people.

@ddhboy: Yep - at least all the iPhone users I see in Australia anyways. That's why I think the iPhone 4 will still sell bucketloads in Australia despite the antenna problem.

@Andy Mesa: Restraint is a quality of character few have these days.

@designguybrown: ha! then you'll have to prefer the old and non-improved version. You should see the smog levels in China these days...

hmmm, still think too much overlap b/w the iPhone and the iPad features. For your average office worker, what's the point of carrying an iPad around when you have an iPhone that does exactly the same thing? The only difference is that it has a bigger screen and that's it.

@d_r_e: no - not all of us are American here u know.

What's the point of censoring the flying f*ck if the caption isn't censored? Not that I give a flying f*ck, of course. #stupidproductgiftguide

@Mark 2000: the WinMo dev team probably didn't get his memo then, because beta builds of 6.5.x still suck. #rayozzie
