...and how is it that the fly-over states are ‘paying extra for the issues the coastals create for themselves’ ??? My understanding is that federal tax revenue from the coastal states is what is propping up the cost of medicaid and education for the fly-over states.  You want more smog on top of that sweet cash that’s

“Since only one of those cases is feasible, CA sets the de facto national standard.”

You couldn’t be more ass-backward and completely wrong if you tried.

every car manufactured with fuel injection and catalytic converters

Somebody here has a big chip on their shoulder. I hear the the term flyover states far more from the people who live in those states than I ever hear from coastal people. Plenty of states other than California opt into higher emissions standards and it is a choice, each state gets to make. Are you saying states

I stopped reading after “Commiefornia.” Found the Trumpster.

Actually, the ones who “need to die” are morons like you who are willing to sell your grandchildren’s climate future for a few hundred bucks off on a brand new car you didn’t need. Please, please crawl into a grave so the rest of the world can work on surviving instead of appeasing selfish dipshits like yourself who

Lol wut.

It’s also not just LA. Plenty of other areas in the country, including “flyover country” also suffer from high pollution levels. Here are the worst areas per the EPA for PM2.5 pollution.... hell, Cincinnati is about the same as the LA valley anymore - and the areas in CA that suffer the most and need the most

You... You’re just wrong about the pollution levels. Even a quick search will show how much better the air in southern California has gotten since they increased their standards.

L.A. especially has this weird effect to to the nature of it being a valley. Where pollution just goes into the sky and stays. So everywhere

What larger picture? Abuse of power?

Man, EVERYBODY crushes it on that show. There is no weak link.

They could start by nominating the actor doing the best work on that show: Rhea Seehorn. They could continue by awarding the best supporting actor on TV these past few years: Jonathan Banks. And yeah, the show itself could get some love too.

When I watched Better Call Saul, I was completely immersed in the characters’ stories. I felt serious anxiety about Nacho’s safety. I felt dread about rocketing towards the seemingly inevitable end of Jimmy and Kim’s relationship.

Better Call Saul will someday get the respect it deserves!

Calling Mike Pence’s Yuxon XL a trash truck is valid only while he’s in it.

Needs more stars.  Mother would approve.

A horse drawn carriage? But what if there were mares pulling it?

Letting someone inexperienced drive a car that is suped-up and with sub-standard safety equipment is in fact an incredibly irresponsible thing to do.

I’m early 40s and I remember how much worse it used to be and that wasn’t even LA in the 60s. And there are a lot more people driving a lot more today, so it shows the efficacy of the regulations. Of course, the general public is still largely made up of stupid, short-sighted, reactive cowards with little long-term
