Yep, you hit the nail on the head. As I alluded to in my original comment, this is all just obnoxious, tired corporate semantics.

Just want to point out: This is not Nintendo’s first Nintendo Direct Mini, rather it is their first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. The newness comes from the fact that, so it seems, Nintendo will be presenting this particular Direct Mini with much more focus on 3rd-party games, and little, if any, on

Yeah, it is striking just how abysmal Japanese support for Xbox One has been. It makes you wonder why they tried so hard with Xbox 360. I mean, they tried really hard. But then they gave up so quickly and they never even bothered to look back. So what was the point of it all? Now all we’re left with is games like Blue

Yep, you’re right. I wasn’t trying to be comprehensive by any means, but yeah, I totally forgot about about Shenmue 3!

You’re not totally wrong, but for my post I was only referring to games that released in the West in 2019. Persona 5 Royal for NA and EU doesn’t come out until March 2020. (And it was actually released in Japan this past October 2019, not March.)

Well, the Western localized release for Mary Skelter 2 only came out on Switch in NA and EU, despite the Japanese version being a PS4 exclusive when it first released in Japan. And the reason for that likely is indeed because Idea Factory did not want to have to alter the lewdy parts of the game under Sony’s policies

I don’t know if you meant this as a joke or not, but this made me lol.

Why does it always seem like no one even mentions JRPGs or other Japanese games when the topic of console exclusives, particularly third-party exclusives, comes up?

I posted a full rundown of the differences between the Western and Japanese Wii U versions back in 2006.

Awesome! Thank you for pointing me to this! Yes, I am totally willing to import. I keep an Amazon.co.jp account just for this kind of thing. But shoot, now I need to decide between white or black...

Is it possible to get that controller on its own? I’m good with my plain old black PS4 Pro, but that P5 DualShock 4 is calling to me.

Thank you so much for this article, Natalie.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are same-gen updates/remakes for Gen VII, rather than brand new entries (like Sun/Moon) or new remakes of much older games (like Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire).

It reminds me of Rupee colors in The Legend of Zelda, specifically from Wind Waker on:

I’d like to echo this: That is not a port. It is the straight up Wii version in a digital/downloadable form with no altered code whatsoever. It would be a Virtual Console game running through a Wii emulator if the Wii U didn’t have an entire Wii built in.

While your idea is nice in theory, I think that would actually be really hard to implement. Every game handles saving differently. Think of a game like Pokémon or Dragon Quest, where there is no auto-saving. If the system is over time and waiting for the next save, it may never happen if the kid doesn’t choose to save
