There is a school of thought that somehow came to prevail that there is something distasteful about providing help to people.

The fear of welfare fraud and the myth of the Black Welfare Queen is what I always remind my sorta Republican friends of when they want to wax on about Reagan. It persists today because of the racist GOP and its entire voting block of racists.

Let’s not concede dumb points to assholes who want to end welfare. Let’s definitely not make their points for them.

If people don’t want people starving in the street, they’ll have to come up with something to alleviate poverty. And evil people will always find fault with it.

Punishment’s the point. “You’re poor, God hates you. So I must hate you.” That’s the implicit thinking of conservatives.

“Both of them are a direct result of lack of trust in and support for the SNAP program”

Ugh, that reminds me, I’ve got my redetermination paperwork waiting to be filled out. I really need that $79 a month, no lie.

I read this story off of a reddit link, and a lot of people also came to her defense in keeping the car. The fact is, a known vehicle with a known maintenance history is a relatively smart decision over selling and getting a possible clunker. Controlling risk is just as important as controlling finances.
