My wife is an IMCU nurse just north of Seattle, where the first US COVID patient was detected. Here are some stories from here and her friends:

Didn’t see the article. Just one of those guys who was way too invested in his philosophy studies in college, and still thinks epistemology and philosophy of language are incredibly cool subdisciplines of study that totally are useful.

Right? C’mon, western medicine, do your thing!

I’m more surprised that he actually has a heart. He’s never shown signs of possessing one

Interesting that he had a stent placed. I figured his last chest pains were bullshit, but they don’t put in stents for no reason. Now will pray for whatever actual heart problems he has to be cured so he can spend many many many years rotting in prison where he belongs.

In times of economic distress, capital driven markets help vendors and investors exploit the marginalized to accumulate more capital.

I’ve had to stop reading the first 1/2 - 2/3's of NY Times or WaPo stories.

If I hadn’t had my parents’ help, the cost of childcare would have forced me to stay in an abusive marriage and quite possibly could have cost my child her life.

When I plugged our numbers into Warren’s universal childcare savings generator, I literally cried. Childcare is absolutely bonkers here too, and you are 100% right about the nanny/nanny share. My two went/go to a good daycare, but the costs are pretty shocking (last year we paid $44,000. Yes, that’s the real number).

I just don’t think anyone who hasn’t had an infant to 4 year old in the last 15 years has any clue how much even a crappy daycare costs. And guess what, those of us who have are just trying to get through the day and not able to make this issue known.

I have a 1 y/o and a 4.5 y/o who is heading to kindergarten in August. I'm ridiculously excited to only be paying $14k in childcare over the next year, instead of $27k.

When I was growing up, summer meetings of the Boy Scout troop were kinda slow. Usually only two or three kids. One summer evening, the church had stocked all their donated clothes in one of the rooms off from the hall where we held meetings. I and my fellow scouts took one look at all the fabulous 80s fashion hanging

We don’t have a lot to nrag about in my town, but our library is world class. They did not back down. People came from out of state to protest. The had a couple dozen police on hand. People had tone turned away because it was so popular. No word if a second one will be held. Given the need for police, I bet the

Not only is this anti-LGBTQ, but it also has really really bad ramifications upon libraries if passed. A parental review board, filled with parents who have no clue how to run a library, deciding which books and events a library can and can’t have? That’s censorship, and book banning on a state level. If this passes

A few weeks ago there was supposed to be a drag queen story hour at the library in my town. They had to shut it down because of the sheer volume of threats from the public. There are a LOT of guns around here, so you have to take that stuff literally deadly serious. I know of at least 4 kids that were fairly upset by

You don’t like it? Keep your kid at home and read to them yourself.

My goodness. If you don’t want your kids to go to drag queen story hour, don’t take them to the library at that time. You can easily clutch your pearls in the comfort of your own home. Don’t ruin fun for the rest of us.

My (central-IL) library does DQSH. It’s a very well attended event that had to be moved into the (basement, ugh) auditorium instead of the smaller upstairs area due to the amount of attendees. And I love, love, love that we do it. I know we’ve gotten a bit of blow-back on it, but I think we’ve gotten much more praise.

Can you call it a pleasant surprise when someone is convicted of rape?

Oh I can indeed get onboard the ‘asshole mayors destroy each other and Liz takes all their voters’ train. Toot toot!
