One small detail I liked about this episode is how the stereotypical "jerk" teenagers turn out to be completely supportive and helpful. Which is the sort of refreshing twist you come to expect from Kapnek. It's also a good counterpoint to the "mean girl" situation that Eliza is dealing with.

One of the things I like about this episode is how they often avoid going the conventional, obvious route.

On the surface, "Perestroika" may seem like a feud. But it's not. It's two people running away. Henry too scared to admit he might have feelings for Eliza, and Eliza is scared to admit that he doesn't.

Keep in mind that in Episode 10, both Freddy and Henry accuse her of being scared of moving too fast with Freddy, and she rejects them both times. The only new information is Freddy's advice of moving slowly in that scenario.

Warner Brothers produces the shows, but they need someone else to actually provide the money. Hulu pays for several original series, and the idea is that Selfie could become one of them.

This episode had a lot of depth and subtext that you don't normally see in a romcom. Eliza realizes she's been right about everything. She doesn't try to save face by retracting her previous statements, because her feelings haven't changed. And she doesn't ask Henry why he left Julia, because she already called it.
