It got a tiny bit of hype at E3 last year (or one of the big gaming shows) and I was instantly interested in it, but yeah it didn’t get a lot of marketing before and after it released. I don’t think it sold well either.

Control is the one nominee of that category I haven’t played. But I own it. Probably won’t get around to it until next month but I look forward to it.
I don’t really replay games, and I don’t play multiplayer games that much so me kinda forgetting about Sekiro doesn’t have to do with that. Certain games just STAY with you after you play them, you know what I mean?
And to be clear, I liked Sekiro and spent a ton of hours on it. I played (and enjoyed) most of the nominees in that category except for 1 and there isn’t one game on there that is a super obvious pick for me as GOTY, so I’m not mad one game won over another or whatever. Just genuinely surprised.
I’m a big From Software nerd and a hardcore Souls fan, but I thought Sekiro was one of the most forgettable major releases of the year. It seemed like the enthusiasm and hype for that game really died down after a month or so. Guess I was wrong.
I regret selling my copy of 3D Dot Game Heroes. Really fun game. The community for it was great too. I remember downloading so many of the models on the messageboards and playing as them.
I used Redbox to rent Star Wars Battlefront 2 a few days after it came out. All I wanted to do was the campaign which was super short. Finished it in under a day and returned it. Well worth it. But I haven’t used Redbox since.
Vanquish doesn’t get the love it deserves. Bayonetta is cool, but man, Vanquish is one of the most fun video games I’ve ever played. Can’t wait for this. Hopefully this sells a bunch of copies so that we can FINALLY get a sequel.
You are forgiven
The Starlink starter set is actually $10 in a lot of places as of a few days ago. They may be good games but this isn’t really a good deal.

Loved Destiny 1 despite its many, many flaws. I depended on the self res in many situations and it saved my team a bunch in raids, strikes and prison of elders encounters.
I agree.
Fuck yeah Nips ruled when I was a kid. It was the candy for old ladies. The Coffee flavored Nips were the best.
You can be a fan of Metroidvanias and not be a huge fan of the way Fallen Order goes about emulating it. Nothing is so black and white. While I found it fun, I don’t think Fallen Order nails any of the genres it is inspired by. Hollow Knight, for example, is a game that tackled the Metroidvania and Soulslike formulas…
Super Mario 64 which came out in the 70's handles sliding so much better than this. It’s crazy.
A big problem with Fallen Order is how it approaches its influences in really clumsy ways. I too love Metroidvanias and Souls games, but this one just doesn’t feel as tight as some of the games it emulates. The m’vania parts here don’t always feel natural.
I agree with SOME aspects of his overly harsh review. It’s a super derivative game that feels rushed. But it’s still fun despite my numerous problems with it.
I haven’t encountered that but that sounds crazy. I’ve encountered the game just freezing for 3-5 seconds going from room to room in Kashyyk, some of the enemies on Dathomir would just move around while standing still (this looked scary lol), characters inside and outside of Mantis would just appear out of thin air,…
That upgrade is also available on Bagano (the first planet) just FYI.
I got this echo earlier today. It stood out to me because the name Bucky Kam’Ron just didn’t seem like a Star Wars name. Not a bad thing per se, but it definitely stands out if you didn’t know the whole story behind it. That’s really sweet.
