Why are they so upset about Trump's mouth being described as Putin's gun holster?

I don't agree with Bill Maher on everything, but his stance on Muslims is more nuanced than he's given credit for. He explicitly says he's not talking about American Muslims, and he's not calling for war, persecution, or the travel ban or anything like that. He's calling for reform.
