I’ll take it a step further - the cockyness and freedom Peter exhibits as Spider-Man is a step on the road to the selfish prick Spidey is when he doesn’t stop The Burglar. My biggest complain about both of the Sony origins is that they motivate Peter’s dickishness by having the wrestling promotor/bodega guy screw him

This can never be shared enough. Success was within their grasp!

IIRC, Luke lived in Hell’s Kitchen after escaping from prison until his bar there was blown up in s1 of JESSICA JONES. He only moved to Harlem afterwards. . .

And also because simultaneously-running Picard was so Famously Bald (lots of “to baldly go” jokes in the late 1980s). Sisko - whoever played him - was likely to be hirsuite just for contrast.

One thing in favor of buying the DVD of FROM HELL, though. In the edition I have, extensive clips from the original British tv show where Stephen Knight presented his Gull theory are included. Annoyingly, they are all hidden as easter eggs. (http://www.hiddendvdeastereggs.com/films/32818.html)

The weirdest thing about the adaptation for me (which fails on almost every level, truly) is that - as I recall - Depp and Graham know who The Ripper’s targets are from the jump and spend most of the movie haplessly failing to prevent their murders.

The book is brilliant, second only to WATCHMEN in Moore’s ouevre, IMO.

Not only that, but Frasier’s mother was talked about on FRASIER as being long-dead, but the character had appeared on CHEERS (and Frasier was spoken of as an only child).

So, yeah, FRASIER lampshaded this very amusingly when ted Danson guest-starred, but it was hardly airtight continuity.

Great panel! Where’s this from?

I’ve been of the opinion for a while that - assuming nothing else was an obstacle - if Joss can’t/won’t find time to do more FIREFLY, he should just turn it over to Minear. And part of me has wondered - since Minear was such a big part of the show - if there were hurt feelings that he wasn’t a part of SERENITY. I

Sheppard AND Anthony Stewart Head, please.

Source for “demanding blowjobs,” please? If all you have is the ex-wife’s essay, than that’s quite a leap.

Isn’t Minear showrunning Fox’s 9-1-1? It’s pretty good.

As I wrote, I don’t believe the parallels are truly Lee’s, but Claremont’s. And by the time Claremont was writing Magneto he was more of an anti-hero than true villain. The parallel *really* only went as far as how does an oppressed race (Black/mutant) respond to bigotry - turn the other cheek vs “by any means

There was a very similar bit in a Priest story during the Morrison JLA era:

Yeah, the “Xavier-as-MLK/Magneto-as-Malcolm” thing was really more Claremont’s, although in his dotage Stan has claimed it for himself in interviews. (Much as Kirby would occasionally cite the incident of an adrenalized woman lifting a car off her kid - depicted in the INCREDIBLE HULK tv show - as his inspiration for

With access to a time machine, 23-year-old Angela Bassett would have been great. At 41 in 1999 - “not cracking” notwithstanding - the truly terrific Ms. Bassett had simply aged out of the part.

(apologies for using “ironically” twice - I can’t seem to edit the post now)

Also, the language in the film implied to me that Luke SAW Ben turn evil in a vision. Not that Luke was *worried* Ben could be evil, but that he forsaw it happening just as he saw Han and Leia’s pain in Cloud City. In the final flashback in LAST JEDI, Luke is hearing lightsabers clashing and people screaming in his

Clothes hangers: backwards question mark if it’s freshly-laundered, forward question mark if it’s been worn once but is still clean enough for a re-wear.

White guy with no kids so I have no vested interest in this. But isn’t there - potentially at least - some value in an idea like this? If it’s only homerooms that are organized this way and the students are being fully integrated in the (according to the article) other 70% of their school day, and all classes are
