Really made great use of its settings. Loved the motorcycle chase across the causeway in Louisiana. I’m pretty sure the driving sequences were done by the studio behind the Burnout series, and it showed.

There’s a really great debate to be had about No. 1, but I’m good with the Casino Royale pick here. What’s not up for debate is the pre-credit sequence to that one is close to perfection.

I’m not going to agree with everything you’ve said here, but you’ve got a pal here in your Dalton soft spot. I frequently go back to License to Kill. It’s absurd and I freaking love it (“Bless your heart!”).

Right. The hand-to-hand fights in the first Craig movies basically make you think you’re watching The Bond Identity.

Now playing

Just celebrating this news by playing this on loop:

SHOTS!!

Ambien.

He’s probably not roasting his sprouts. Changed everything for me.

If anything, a reimagined Octopussy can be a great supporting character in the next season of the show.

The Catholic Church doesn’t make mistakes. ... Alright, mistakes were made.

Re. Olivia, looks like it’s next week from the Ep. 6 preview.

Hell, he’s not even dog-whistling at this point. He’s shouting it in front of anyone who’s listening. Absolute piece of shit.

Goddamit, Olenna was awesome. I’m enjoying the new show, but I’d like to see some characters with a little more wit around, just to lighten the mood a bit. Then again, just might not be what they’re going for.

1. That’s definitely how I took it. Viserys saying, “I know you’ve had my back for the most part, but your ambition comes first.”

That was Joffrey marrying Margaery. Sansa and Joffrey’s betrothal was ended because she was the daughter of a traitor and it wasn’t a good look, but she was married to Tyrion by the time of the Purple Wedding.

Definitely part of it. It’s been a while since I read Fire and Blood, but is there an implication he’s being poisoned, as well?

I didn’t know that part about Oscar Isaac. Not know that, I don’t have an issue with his character surviving, but it does shine a little light on how clunky that storyline was. I actually like his arc, at a high level, but that info makes me wonder how Holdo would have been written minus that conflict. Tangent there:

Somehow, the pacing got worse with the next installment. I say this as a big TLJ fan, he should have either done it all or just not at all. The entire trilogy needed one director, or at least one writer — one damn vision (maybe not JJ’s though...). Having a two-year break between movies was way too short. The script

There’s an idea. Spent time in NE in the first movie, so he adopts a Boston accent (maybe even Dunkin’ gets in some product placement with his metaphors). Third movie he’s going over-the-top Greek, shifts to comparing cases to Spanakopita.

It would’ve been nice to get a two-part premiere here, just to get a better idea of what the show will look like week-to-week. This was a fun episode and has me interested in more, but it felt like all prologue.
