Hawkins was definitely not in the wrong here; his mysterious benefactors was an “apparent” agent of the owner, and he bears no criminal OR civil liability for accepting a commission from a purported owner of a building, especially where the owner of the building was so absentee that he didn’t notice an enormous…

The artist could always use the image himself to make money, and when the prankster contacts him to complain,  solve the mystery.  If the guy never complains, he gets a cool bit of art to make some money off of.

The guy instantly had one of the most recognized pieces of real estate in Peoria, and he paints over it. He had a funny story to tell along with the mural itself, and he...painted...over...it. Yes, this guy is a total Grinch, what a putz.

It’s all good! I am curious whether he’s local, because Hawkins met him in person a couple of times. Maybe he’ll spot him in the future? The mystery continues...
