I’m somewhat confused by the “worshiping a tree” comment. My knowledge of religions from the African diaspora and pre-christian mythology of, say, Egypt don’t make any mention of such a thing. There are references to trees in Norse or Celtic mythology, but nobody worshiped those trees.
