I think you hinted at it, but this doesn’t take into account the fact that there are leaps that occur in scientific understanding that change everything. Nor does it take into account the collapse of a civilization, which with the way things are going we can’t exactly rule out. This is more or less a “steady state”…

I should have clarified. It’s annoying and crude as a tactic, but it’s also effective at times. It’s one of those stupid things someone will say to “own” someone in an online argument, and proceed to crow about how they “won” and refuse to continue the debate.
