The first season when they tried to play it straight as a police procedural/soap opera centered around Gordon and Bullock with Bruce on the side was terrible. It was when they introduced the first Joker and let it loose with the villains is when it became more entertaining, interesting, and fun. They even changed the

Derivative of what, exactly? If anything, I felt like it set the stage for a lot of imagery that wouldn’t become mainstream in horror and goth until the late 90's/early 2000's.

It’s pretty obvious by the way they elevate Gordon to superhuman/hero status, Barbara Kean becoming an insane supervillain, multiple Jokers, reanimating the dead, etc, etc, that it’s not meant to be Batman canon or even taken seriously in relation to the DC Universe or even reality as a whole and that’s part of its

In this universe it’s no wonder Batman was successful, when he is in his physical prime, he’s beating up on a lot of late middle-age people.

I was at a concert, and heard some Disney engineers talking about trying to build Star Wars land.

Those asshole Jedi. They know goddamn well the movie’s releasing after September, AND LOOK AT THOSE WHITE PANTS!

We have four, but they are all Family Video, and I don’t know how they manage to stay open. They have taken to selling any videos that are even a few years old. If a title isn’t popular, they sell those too. When Get out  became available I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to get a copy, cause it was so popular. Sadly

Split was also released in January and made $278M with far less fanfare than Glass (on a $9M budget). Glass also was made for only $20M. Maybe the studio thinks this movie is a guaranteed winner so long as it has no real competition like its predecessor.

And they had to avoid Feb. because isn’t there an X-Men movie then? Albeit a delayed one with terrible word-of-mouth, but still....

My understanding is that MNS funded this (and all his other recent ones) himself, so he may have total control over the release date himself as well. (Presumably Universal is just distributing?) If I were self-funding, I’d sure aim for January too. It worked for Split. And it’s a dead zone ripe for the picking.

I believe he lives in Alaska.

Split came out in January and got great reviews, strong audience response and amazing box office. That’s why Glass got a January slot.

There’s 3(!) Family Videos within a 5 mile radius of my house.

January is usually just a dumping ground, but every year there's at least one movie that tested well and a studio decides that since everything ELSE in January is going to be shit, they can counterprogram and do good business. Glass may well be this year's entry.

Surprising how much this one hurts. I remember those Super Dave bits on Letterman so vividly. And how weirdly shocked I was when I learned he was Albert Brooks’ brother. And how whenever he showed up on Arrested Development and Curb, he was always, always great. R.I.P.

Spring of 2019 is best guess, but it was greenlit in May 2018.

My general take has been that Gold was excellent at big, thematic music, while Akinola has been much better than Gold was at composing incidental music that adds emotion to the scene (I always thought Gold’s incidental stuff sounded very generic, especially in the early years).

That’s a good point that the New Year’s Day is better than Christmas Day because it doesn’t force them into any Christmas theme, which can get so tiring. Also, New Year’s Day has sort of unofficially become a day for sitting around and binging shows (hungover for many) so it makes sense to have a new episode versus

I like the New Years Day special format because the story can be whatever they want to do. This episode was aces and brilliant as Jodie would say. Also, I hope they open season 12 with the New Years Day 2020 special and then go from there. Who’s with me???

I guess we won’t find out because Netflix doesn’t release the data, but I’m curious to know how many people will stream this.
