I think “to much effort” means they just don’t want to go out for any number of reasons. It’s not really strictly about effort at all. It’s a catch-all used by many to just describe an unwillingness to do something.

If this, and the new Doom Eternal, use check-point saving only I will finally refuse to buy. I’m not putting up anymore with being forced to replay any part of a game that I already have successfully completed just because the devs or publishers want their game padded.
