Agreed. I'm 24, but I still REALLY identified with the teenage characters. They felt… real. They said and did dumb things sometimes, like teenagers do, but were smart and brave at other times, like teenagers are. The scenes where Nancy would argue with/lie to her mom were especially resonant for me. I think younger

I dunno, I feel the opposite. I read the Duffer brothers saying that they will come back with the same characters for Season 2 and I felt really happy. I'm tired of the "one season and out" thing so many shows are doing. Just ask fans of True Detective how happy they were about a second season with all-new actors.

They said they're going to have to do the "Harry Potter" thing and skip a year because obviously the child actors will age way too much otherwise

Yeah, same. It wasn't cliche, which is good, but it didn't seem entirely organic either. They deliberately showed not once, but twice that Nancy and Jonathan instinctively grabbed each other's hands when there was danger. It feels cheap to just throw that in the dumpster afterwards.

I agree that that's a pretty tired trope, but still, they specifically showed not one but two times that Nancy and Jonathan instinctively grabbed each others' hands when there was danger. I get that Steve redeemed himself too, but it still felt jarring after they spent so much emotional screentime together.
