Some further details on this case from The New Yorker today:
“The culture” calling out “a target,” my ass.
(So graciously put.) Yes, that was partly my point — there is plenty of time for a strong field to emerge.
Not sure exactly, except that it allows the Dem field distinct space to sort itself out apart from his announcing. I have heard he did not decide on getting in 2016 until it was clear Warren was out, and he stepped up to represent on wealth inequality and all the other issues of his platform to the left of HRC. I…
I think he hasn’t ruled it out so as not to dissipate the pressure toward the left the ambiguity creates. Also, he says he is undecided, which is probably true.
Yes, but only some. I grew up inVermont, first knew of him in the 1970s when he was Liberty Union candidate, then as mayor of Burlington, and ever onward, so I actually am fairly familiar. I simply do not believe his primary motivation is ego, as many seem to think, despite his sometimes grouchy, dismissive demeanor.…
I really don’t think Bernie will run again. People speculate all kinds of things about his persona, but I 100% believe he is in it much more to advance the issues rather than to gain himself higher office. It’s almost zero effort for him to stay in the Senate from Vermont. He has succeeded in moving the needle…
Ordinary Americans, as opposed to the political insiders fixated on the Russia story. That was the Q — about Russia.
How on earth is that pronounced?! Complete insanity. Nothing means anything anymore.
Her husband Richard Branson’s nephew. Explains some of it.
The board was reportedly surprised by a few private settlements, but not all of them. They knew.
TBF, M Steep lives in CT and is not really a Hollywood person; I’m not sure she runs in circles that would be talking to her on the topic. But, to be sure, it is disappointing she couldn’t acknowledge her insulated elite position, and that the behavior was well-known outside her personal sphere.
You have a very mercenary view of the role of US attorneys — one that is not necessarily accurate or shared by all lawyers, although prevalent in popular culture. (Also, your name HappyFunDad does somewhat imply you are male, right?)
So far, this is a civil matter, not a criminal one, so there is no over-arching constitutional principle of justice or due process involved. There are no current suits pending against him (that we know of), and he plans to be a plaintiff against the NYT; this is not a defense case.
Despising SJP’s eyeliner is the only strong opinion I have ever held about make-up. So weird she is so “fashion conscious” but always looks absurd. Makes me think her stylists hate her; also that Matthew Broderick seems so decent and deserves better (but I guess he loves her anyway).
Very respectable. Total pro — she was a New York native, a child star, and appeared steadily on Broadway from adolescence to adulthood.
I’m amazed! That’s great, thank you. Best wishes for the recovery of the Balmoral Range Rover keeper.
Thanks! I guess a corgi was too silly to hope for. It’s still a funny detail, though.
Is that a corgi figurine mounted on her Range Rover hood? Funny!
