Not just BMW for sure. The Mk3 VW Golf has the same layout as my E46, 5 speeds with reverse up and to the left. My Fiesta ST and the Kia Soul it replaced both have 6 speeds with reverse up and to the left.

I’d be willing to bet the F-450 is probably the most likely to be worked properly of any of the “heavy duty” light duty trucks. Mandatory DRW makes it more of a pain in the ass to DD, not compatible with standard wheel/tire sizes for brotruckification, stiffer suspension makes the ride even worse, etc.
