Robots/Martians - The Martians decision went to Bradbury's Illustrated Man. It has been a while since I read that, but I don't recall a lot of martians there. How about Bradbury's Martian Chronicles?

Farm Boy?

Because the two previous answers only referred to the origin of the graphic. They didn't point out the fact that it indicates the relative size of the TV. Somebody who didn't read the details of the plaque wouldn't get that.

As has already been mentioned, this is the Pioneer spacecraft plaque. It has a lot of information packed into it.

@Ron.Swanson Please don't tell us what got all over your keyboard.

How about Doc Savage - The Man of Bronze?

Eh? I thought that curare was derived from Strychnos Toxifera.

The use of "enormity" to mean large physical size is debated.

I wash in cold/cold. Loads that need to be sanitized I wash in Pine-Sol. Kills all the germs and makes my house smell like a pine forest. When bought in gallon containers, it's cheap, too!

The tags don't emit anything until you wave a scanner over them. They have no battery. The scanner provides the power and reads back the code. The tags are also encapsulated in inert material. Most of the time, the chip just rides around inside the animal, doing nothing.

You are correct. These pet chips are read by passing a scanner over the animal. Distance is quite short. All you get is a serial number that is then looked up in a database that should then locate the owner. No GPS at all.

Don't forget Keith Laumer's "Dinosaur Beach".

You could temporarily mend the old part with super glue. It might not hold in real use, but would hold together long enough to scan it and print a new unbroken one.

120/240hz displays do look different. Some say like soap operas, but your "low-budget sexual harassment film" comparison is also good.

There are several different systems used in the theater.

Neither tech is clearly superior at this time. There are trade-offs.

I like most of your posting. But I have no problem with "One dude, one AK-47, two names."
