As someone who has played some competitive Splatoon, the spectator mode, I feel, is really going to give this game a chance to shine.

There are a few things to note about the E3 event that make it even more impressive, IMO. First, the game itself was a limited build, so the players were pretty limited on weapon…

IIRC, the spectator mode is available in the private battle mode, which is what’s used to set up matches in competitive. I don’t think it will be in the public turf or ranked rooms, but I could be wrong. (If it is, I’d guess it’s limited to people you’re “friends” with).

The damage ratio in Smash affects every character differently, some much more drastically than others. Most notably, it affects the percentage that moves will kill at (which is HUGE because taking your opponents stocks is the goal in Smash) and also impacts how moves will/won’t combo into each other.
