Maniacal robot? HAL was a computer first off. And second, he wasn’t maniacal. HAL was only following his programming which said to carry out the exploration mission... It wasn’t HAL’s fault his code was poorly written.

Be more impressive and frightening if most of their fleet wasn’t in the same embarrassing condition as the Smokey Admiral (Дымчатый Адмирал)

Since VW has been promising this for close to 20 years and then cancelling it again and again, I won’t actually believe it till I see one sitting on my local dealership’s lot.

As a Jeeper and former owner of 2 JK Wanglers I can assure you that highway comfort is not a consideration AT ALL in a Jeep purchase.

What they need to do is make it off-road capable unlike the would-be competitor, the Toyota FJ Cruiser. It’s weak independent front suspension was know for getting the firewall to crack in off-roading situations. So Ford, the message is to go with a live front axle just like the Jeep and the original Broncos of

So they share this engine with the E-3C Sentry? Interesting...haven’t made them since 1985. It is more modern than the competition’s Kuznetsov NK-12s which were designed in the 50s

Shades of Elio anyone? I still say vaporware until FF actually builds the factory for a 2018 model year automobile...

For what it’s worth, the Russian Tu-95 Bear first went into production in 1952. The B-52 is in actuality an excellent plane with a very clean safety record. Also, many 52s have engines that were installed within the last 5-10 years so they are in fact powered by modern powerplants.

As much as I like this car, it doesn’t deserve to priced up there with Cosworth Vegas. An interesting note that should have been mentioned was that the Vega was the first car who’s body was entirely designed by computer with a primitive CAD program. Also, it was originally supposed to receive a Wankel engine and GM

Please share pictures and maybe start a thread on Jalopnik on their restorations!

Wouldn’t the factory have to call it a limo though? Cause according to Checker, the Aerobus wasn’t a limo... Shouldn’t the manufacturer’s opinion of what their own product was count?

I think a limo has the connotation of some amount of luxury. The Aerobus is more akin to a bus quite literally. Also, limos generally have a modified frame and Aerobuses an uncut factory frame that is a longer version of the wagon. The only Checker to have been deemed a limo was the A19E Marathon Town Custom.

The Aerobus 8-door is not technically a limo. It was designed to be sold to resorts to transport guests to and from airports and came that way from the factory as a variant of the Marathon A12W wagon (there was a 6-door variant as well). It would have glass with no tint as well metal rails in the cargo area across the

These would destroy themselves in mere minutes of exposure to asphalt at highway speeds. Just buy a set of snow cables...they’re not that expensive...

Not impressed... Here in Anchorage, AK this morning, we counted AT LEAST 25 cars involved in various accidents, some of them multiples...on one road alone, Minnesota Ave. So 50 in the DC metro area all together, not really interesting.

I don’t think I’d label a Lancia Delta nor an ALFA GTV as even remotely exotic. Both are essentially high-spec econo-boxes (don’t hate me ALFA peeps, it’s true) and neither is particularly rare...unless you’re talking Lancia Delta Integrale Evolucion...that’s the rare one, but still, a mass-market econo-box at its

Um, not exactly

Long ago when I was stationed in San Antonio as a young (I was almost 26) A1C, a Legend Mazda on the north side tried to tell me they couldn’t show me the interest rates or my payments until the deal was done...meaning I was in finance signing the paperwork. Even wanted me to sign some document saying I pre-agree to

Raul was actually the one who convinced Fidel to go away from democracy and embrace Communism. And is probably responsible for at least as many extrajudicial killings and disappearances as the Castro Bros’ favorite murderous best friend, Ernesto Guevara

The UAZ 469 is actually known for its reliability and ruggedness...I’m going to chalk this down to excellent Cuban military maintenance practices.
