Yeah, if you’ll forgive the little nod to your username, it’s basically the X-Men problem. Like, I appreciate that you’re building a metaphor folks, but when you’re literally talking about people who can control metal and the weather or who feed on human blood, it just completely falls apart.

Skarsgard was having so much fun, loved it for him.

I have that problem with a lot of stuff like this that ties anti-vampire or anti-superhuman sentiment to real world bigotry, cus these people have an absolute point about the danger and harm caused where real bigots don’t at all

The scenes where Jason and Andy team up are always hilarious. Ryan Kwanten sold that character like few actors could.

I would sacrifice many things for long form critical series like History of Violence and Romance Met Comedy again

The books are an absolutely fun read as well. Harlequin romance, but with vampires. I loved the series when it came out - I was at university - and working at the school library at the time. Somehow convinced the head librarian to purchase all the books in the series - which they did, no questions asked. 6 months

Indeed. The show was always tongue in cheek for the most part. There was even a semi-main character (Pam) whose primary job at times seemed to be pointing out how ludicrous it was that two vampires were fighting over a fairy waitress.

Trust me, we weren’t taking it seriously then either. The show may have moved into a more overtly silly, campy tone, but it was always silly and campy.

Russell Edgington quickly became my favorite character, peaking with the newscast preemption.

I’ve always said that this series needs to be taken as a shallow romp, and taken that way it never failed to be enjoyable to me.

And in 2023 that anti-vampire senator seems tame compared to the actual bat-shite crazy fascists that have taken over the Republican party.

My favorite part is how they had to make the anti-vampire Senator in Season 6 an insanely over the top fascist to make him look like the bad guy, and after all the shit that vampires had done in Season 5 especially, he still comes off as the only person who’s at all reasonable about the danger they pose.

I thought the whole ‘heart of the group’ bit was a stretch as well, but I decided it made sense Will would see Mike in an outsized capacity because he’s madly in love with him.

“And Will’s striking speech to Mike (Finn Wolfhard) in the car lets Schnapp finally showcase his range”

Well the sword was from when they sent the prisoners in the arena with weapons to battle the demigorgon.

Steve is two days away from retirement and ready to sail on the SS Live Forever with his six nugget family. I’m sure he’ll be fine

This is exactly how I felt about it. In general it was fine, but the gravitas of the cast (especially Isaac and Hawke) really carried it.

Moon Knight was a quirky show. Imperfect. Often reminded me of ‘90s and early ‘00s adaptations.

ahh because YOU don’t like it, that means everyone that does must lack taste. Yet here you are, commenting on something you don’t like, can’t be any more tasteless than that.
