As a kid, I thought the instrument panel in my older sister’s 1984 Berlinetta was unbelievably cool. A fascinating amalgam of Knight Rider and arcade racer cabinets. I remember going out and sitting in it just to play around and push buttons. Everything else about the car sucked, but that panel was dope.

That last number is wild! 293 chases in one county in one year?!? How many ended in fatalities? Like if that’s one a day, that means that on 80% of days, they had a chase. I’d put money on the cause being overwork. Not because of the lazy Japan=overwork jokes. They were dealing with all the usual Christmas/New Year traffic, significant even in Japan, plus the extra work of supporting the earthquake relief efforts, I’m willing to bet that that resulted in degraded ability to maintain…
