Because the shuttle was a really good idea, after all - expensive, extremely hard to maintain, marginal safety rating, no way of really aborting a failed launch, complex... Yeah, that’s the idea. Gliders have problems.

Is that really your takeaway here? Are you the idiot on the boat?

A few bursts from a .50 would get the point across.

It ain’t Torch’s fault that Trump supporters keep showing up as the idiots in the big story of the day.

To quote SpaceX’s Kate Tice: “Maybe we shouldn’t announce our splashdown location next time.”

Dunno, put a couple of coast guard fast boats out there, splashdown inside the 12 nmi zone, and anyone gets too close the coasties get to take ‘em into custody. Fuck’em.

It’s not like all the folks who bought-in didn’t get anything for their money yet. They got the last 10 years of forum-posting-smugness because they were part of an exclusive [to those who buy-in] community and were better than all the other communities because of their seriousness and the serious game they were

Yeah, I have to say I have the same view of Roberts. He’s not out to scam people, he’s just that bad at his job.

No matter which way you spin it, it doesn’t look good. Either the game has been in development for 8+ years. Or they took the millions the original Kickstarter campaign made in the first two years and used it to fund a “different game of the same name” that’s been in development for 6. There is no positive“well

Funny, it bugs me when SC apologists ignore Roberts’ famous

right? I can’t fathom how some people are doing thousands upon thousands. How can you spend rent money on a ship that doesn’t exist?

This is one case where a person making tongue in cheek fun of Star Citizen believers and the actual true believers are 100% indistinguishable.

No Man’s Sky didn’t really fuck up though. It was mostly (and I say mostly because there was some level of fuck up on their part) massive, ridiculous overreacting by “Gamers”.

Star Citizen is going to go down as the biggest most expensive scam in video game history.

Meanwhile, No Man’s Sky comes out, fails in public spectacularly, only to very publicly improve over time until it delivered on its promise or players.

At least you only spent $50.

The reason why is the reputation of Chris Roberts, the head of the project and president of the company. He’s something of a rock star to a certain demographic of old school gamers. He made the old Wing Commander games with Origin Systems, which are a flock of games that hold up extremely well. From that background he

Look, cocaine and hookers dont pay for themselves.

Oh look, something completely expected happened.
“But it takes a while for a game to be made” they yell... I laugh.

Chris Roberts leads development on a space sim that promises to be everything you’ve ever wanted, then goes way over-budget, gets delayed year after year, and in the meantime, they put out a dogfighting component to allay the anxiety of fans.
