Yea this was my one gripe with the otherwise great episode. It felt very story-of-the-week trope-y to me as well. But it’s a classic trope for a reason, and they pulled it off incredibly well here [including the assassin’s headshot fakeout.]

Seriously. I haven’t seen a single person who is excited for ANY of their show [and no one I know is either.] Why did they spend billions on content again? Oh, right, because THEY COULD. smdh! Guess they didn’t want to use those billion$ to do anything silly like, I dunno, make a new design for the iPhone after all…

Jesus H. Eff, where did all that money go!? The effects weren’t THAT good, for crying out loud. And I enjoyed the hell out of the ep! But $15M? I can’t see it...

Additionally, I believe this excellent film is the feature film debut of one Jack Black. Adult JB, that is. I think he was in some kids movies back in the day...

Deep cut! Nice. Seriously, this would fulfill every Trek-voice-activated-computer fantasy i’ve had since TNG left the air. So, so cool. This MUST happen!! 

I vividly remember his “wacky” “shenanigans” on NBC 4 from my childhood. Which makes it all the natural that he’d transition to the Faux new network and attain a sheen of respectability*

Is MF not still alive? Would be amazing to re-cast him in this awesome and important role. CIBOLA!

JFC if I recall correctly, this terrifying story was only a few pages long. How can they stre-e-e-e-e-e-tch that out to feature length and not lose the horror aspect? Seriously, I still think about this story from time to time and it never fails to creep me the eff out. 

I’m with you. Vastly forgettable, waste of a great character and actor in Ego/Russell. Handful of good moments doesn’t redeem it. Plot was just so odd, and the pac man versus celestial scene at the end was just so dumb.
