I love how he was the star of the final episode.
It should also go without saying,
Why can’t a story be told the way it was intended? Why do TV producers need to include political commentary? I disagree with your entire point of view. I love this show and think it is engaging. Personally, I think you are being too critical. For example, you comment that the teacher who was questioned about her…
Some really puzzling choices here. Why make Charles Wallace adopted? Why make Calvin “a dullard”? Why make Mrs. Which visible (okay, I realize the answer to that one is “Oprah”)? All the racial and age changes from the book don’t seem to harm the fundamental story at all - and make it more inclusive to boot - but the…
Thank you for this balanced review. Let me know if you need a place to stay after the Jezebel staff firebombs your apartment.
All in all, a step forward. For too long, white men have been the only ones making mediocre fantasy movies.
Skimming through a handful of other reviews, Oprah’s going to need to hire a lot of leg breakers.
On re-read as an adult, I found this book to be far too religious (Christianity vs godless communism!). Narnia books are also unreadable to me now.
It isn’t revealed until a later book in the series, but Mrs. Who, Which and Whatsit are actually ARMORED FUCKING POLAR BEARS.
Sounds like something a junior high asshole would say.
The best description I’ve seen of this movie is that it’s like they showed all their ideas to a junior high asshole, and whenever he said “That looks gay” they put it in.
Sad that even this article didn’t mention Dorothy Malone, who won for Written on the Wind.
I’m impressed that the Shazam! costume actually looks like the one from the comics and in a DC movie no less.
hes on the librarians if that counts and is not cancelled
God his show was just unwatchable in recent years. The cheap ass Tim and Eric set, minimal (if any) preparation, watching him hunched over in a wrong sized suit talking to useless 2017 Cornell West (versus the infinitely more respected 90’s version) was just fucking depressing - and that was without thinking about…
Fuck Cinemark. Use another cinema chain instead.
God, I wish Christopher Hitchens were still around to write his obit.I know we shouldn’t blame parents for the faults of their children, but Billy’s son Franklin is one of the most prominent peddlers of that Trump-is-a-fine-Christian horseshit that helps Evangelicals feel happy about voting for him.
I don’t think it is selfish, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it is heroic either. Now, sure, there may be instances in which adoption is heroic, such as when a troubled child is adopted and therefore the raising of that child is going to be difficult, but in general, why should adoption be viewed as heroic?
Adam West could have, possibly, with a straight face. He had a gift for it.
