I think the biggest difference between the Obama and Clinton wings of the party is that Obama was charismatic. He made it work. Everybody loved Obama. All the push back now to the Obama side is because the Pod Save America guys and everybody else lack his charisma to get people look past the policies.

They seem pretty solidly progressive to me. Just as a litmus test, because we need more of those in America, they thought the Dems caved when they ended the shutdown without a real, reliable commitment for Dreamers. If you want to purge youngish reform-minded progressive activist Obama staffers for not being left

Whoa, they supported their political party? What a stupid bunch of hacks!

Like most of the Marvel lineup on Netflix these days, it would have done better shortened to a six episode tightly plotted season 1.

I’m confused, does avclub think we can’t watch a movie and a TV show in the same weekend? Cause I do that all the time. And Altered Carbon was fantastic.

While I understand the argument there is another side to it. I hadn’t payed much attention to Altered carbon or even Netflix in the last couple months. Cloverfield struck just the right blend of nostalgia and length to bring me back for a bite sized bit of media to watch. Immediately after Cloverfield it popped up an

I don’t think you’ve thought the logic of this through.

From Netflix’s perspective, you just need to get hooked by one thing. If that was Altered Carbon, you already know about it by now. If you get attracted by a brand new movie with a huge marketing promo in the Superbowl and afterwords get linked to a new similar

Netflix doesn’t release data on their viewerships, so you literally have no idea if it derailed anything at all. Sooo, this piece is worthless, as I’m positive you knew when you started writing it.

It’s not dreadful. It’s perfectly serviceable. There are zillions of movies worse than it.

Fuck that. You stop watching them all at once.

Seth Meyers should be good, but goddam, there is nothing better than Ricky Gervais brutally roasting celebs on Their Night. BRING BACK RICKY.

You posited that “Hollywood doesn’t take too kindly to sexual predators anymore.” followed by “unless” and a list of people, several of whom have more or less nothing to do with Hollywood.

I know! I can’t even turn on the cable without running into another movie starring Marv Albert, Ben Roethlisberger, C-Lo and R. Kelly!

As near as I can understand the appeal of these network mornings shows – and to be fair, I don’t really understand the appeal of these network morning shows – the central attraction is that you’re starting every morning with a bunch of cheerful friends who make nonthreatening conversation and periodically tell you

Good Morning America (which has been dealing with its own harassment scandal in the form of the also-fired Charlie Rose)“

Maz Kanata straight up told her that her parents were never coming back and that she needed to stop clinging to the past.

The Chew doesn’t need Mario Batali to be weird and off-putting. The other three are total disasters too. Even on mute.
