Exactly, this article implies that on-board wifi can replace in-flight entertainment. Really, how much bandwidth does it support? Video streaming on personal devices is just not practical or supported for the majority of passengers with current systems.

Every registered, drive-able vehicle I've bought have been fairly to home. However, when I was looking for a donor for my Factory Five 818 (a MR kit car that uses a Subaru donor), I traveled ~1000 miles (round trip) to get most of a rear-ended, totaled, 2006 WRX wagon. I was perfect for my project; everything I needed

?!? Audi wagons are some of the best looking; all recent generations are >> the sedans they're based on. (coming from a slightly biased B5 Avant owner).

I agree, this discussion got wrapped around the axle. In the context of driving experience, analog refers to the lack of driver's aids, not the FI control system!

My wife always used to roll her eyes when I did that in any of my cars. Now that she's driving a 135i convertible Msport, she'll hold a gear and rev (yes she drives a stick) just to hear the I6 growl.

Real estate appreciates in value; in the long run, including all other expenses, you'll likely come out ahead, therefore it's an investment. Cars depreciate; in the long run, including all other expenses, it will cost you money. Because there's no return, it's an expense, not an investment.

I'm currently hand-crafting a Japanese-American roadster of my dreams. (FFR 818 with WRX donor):

I think it's a great idea! Active displays have already started to replace static in many applications (restaurant menus, etc...). Illumination is no problem, lots of e-readers have built in edge-illuminated, waveguide front-lights (can't 'back'-light it since it's reflective); a little photovoltaic should provide

"Tailgate top designed to act as a spoiler, giving air that flows off the roof a place to land before smoothly trailing off, reducing turbulence behind the truck"

You can put the instument cluster on a lab bench, power it up and hook up a function generator to the speedo input, ramp up the frequency as much as you can and run the miles up that way. Seen it done on other makes.

Just yesterday I replaced the odometer EEPROM in the cluster out of an 06 WRX to reset the mileage to 000000. No, I'm not trying to defraud anyone, I'm building a Factory Five 818 and my donor Subie had ~70k on the clock. That car was scrapped, but lots of the parts will live on... the new car deserves a fresh start!

That hit a sore spot. When my wife and I got our Audi, we considered an S4 Avant in Nogaro Blue, but didn't want spend the coin, so ordered a A4 Avant in Atlas Gray (NB was only for the S). She still kicks me everytime we see a Nogaro Blue S4. Although she's happy now driving her Le Mans Blue 135i M-sport, and we

A while ago we had an intermittent problem with the alternator in our A4 Avant. To replicate the problem the dealer's service manager suggested he drive it home over the weekend to see if he could witness the issue. This was a last resort, after days of trouble-shooting, and they were very formal about the process.

I agree it makes no sense, but it's not a 'great' car, which is what this is all about.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I cringe when I hear people say simply becuase it's electric it's "virtually maintenance free!"

I preferred some of the 818 submissions to the in-house design that went into production, but I'm building it not because of the looks, but since I fell in love with the concept of an affordable, street-legal, lightweight, mid-engined, RWD two-seater with massive performance potential!

My first thought also, seems to get so little talk around here. I'm 1/2 way through building mine.

came here to say the same!

These 'perks' are not free, they add to the cost of the vehicle. They may not be value added to all customers, and they may not use them, but they all paid for them.

+1, I have ProClip mounts in all my cars with quick release plates to remove/swap phone cradles. I also travel with the suction cup mount for rentals. Awesome system, but a bit pricey.
