Pilots typically have a higher budget then a regular episode. They actually filmed a couple of scenes in Chicago (something that will do throughout the season but it’s not going to be a every episode thing).

The three Rami trilogy collectively made 2.5B while the two MCU Spider-Man made 1.98B. Factoring inflation and the fact that the Rami trilogy was before the worldwide boom and I say that the Rami trilogy is the equal of any of the non-Avengers franchises.

Disney is essentially asking for 10-15x what they were getting. No one negotiates like that.

At one point the AVClub covered every NBC comedy on Thursdays except for Superstore so I’m not optimistic that it get any sort of coverage. I’ve just accepted the fact that the AVclub is trending toward the niche. I can’t imagine the AVclub covering B99 if it premiered this year.

I’m certain this isn’t the exit of Carlos Valdes as a series regular. I would imagine his exit would be like Willa Hollands where there’s a bit of a setup, and I would imagine it happening after the crossover.

Earlier seasons were shot on the original Arri Alexa which was a 1080p camera. Later seasons were shot on the Arri Mini which is a 4K camera.

The Good Place is one of those high concept shows that naturally collect attention, while B99 premiered back in 2013 back when recaps were still common. If B99 premiered in 2015 like Superstore I can guarantee that it’ll get next to no coverage.
