I can remember shopping for a car, “building” the car I wanted on the manufacturer’s website, then sending it to 6 dealerships. 5 gave me the BS line “we’ve got what you want - come on in” and only 1 said that they didn’t have exactly what I wanted but here’s what we have - guess where I got the car...

Read his book. You don’t get repeat sales and referrals - his main source - by treating people badly.

I read his book. One of the main things I took away from it was if you piss off a customer by treating him badly, he will tell more people than the customer who was treated well.

I woudn’t be surprised if the original owner put it away as speculation - then died.
