As long as one is willing to fix whatever needs fixing, virtually any car will go 200K. My 20 year old Mercedes SL has 175K and not a sign of being tired. had a W124 300E with 370,000 miles. How to they define these lists? They break down less?

1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL.

People who like to slap AMG badges on Mercedes that obviously aren’t AMG modified

So how does this new Lamborghini fare on a typical commute on the 405-stop and go? 😉

Unless you get a V12 or any car with the air suspension (option on V8s; standard on V12) they are pretty reliable IF they have been maintained by the previous owner(s).

I think you can now get rebuilt catalytic converter’s through the dealers for considerably less.

As they age their only weakness is brittle old plastic. But like all of Sacco’s designs, a timeless design.

I have an R129, and love the car. It was the last SL designed by a stylist who grew up with the company, Bruno Sacco. Automobile magazine ranked him as one of the great stylists of all times, along with Sergio Pininferina and Gordon Beurig. The head stylists now at Mercedes and virtually everywhere are hired as chief

Reminds me of a story I read years ago in Road & Track. The then editor was invited up to Laguna Seca raceway for the new Toyota model introduction (mid 80s).

It isn’t much better in the urban areas of CA. I have an old camphor tree I wanted removed from my front lawn. One of the bidders said I should ask the city for permission.

I think there was another accident - involving a death - at a FL track or Las Vegas track a couple of years ago? How much can one “instruct” when taking a client whose only known qualification is paying the $400 or so for a couple of laps.

Something like that would sure stand out on the road.

You know far more about the new car businessyou know far more about the new car business than I do Tom but don’t these cars have a constant flooring charge?

iconic logos-think the Mercedes Benz star or IBM-took many decades to achieve that recognition. Why would Aston Martin want to screw up something that’s iconic?

...or a bad crankshaft positioning sensor, fuel pump relay, fuel pump....the list goes on.

Ithink she should dump that boyfriend.

Duesenberg brothers. Because their cars kicked butt. “It’s a doozy” is still in the American lexicon

My 1967 Camaro. It had a 327 with high performance 10 to 1 compression corvette heads. 4 speed with a rare option of which only 6000 were made. It had a front seat that was a bench seat. It went over the transmission hump.

if the mother didn’t have a gutter mouth I be 100% for her.

Britt was cute! But saying she didn’t feel confident after demonstrating that she could do it????
