Meanwhile, Alfred Neubauer is spinning in his grave.

Think what those fools did with the Enzo. Only Enzo crash IMO that deserved respect for the driver Richard Lossee - He drove the car, enjoyed the car and didn’t do stupid things on public streets.

That guy in the BMW sounds kinda wimpy - terrified - like she is going to devour him if the police don’t come right away. And I saw no damage on the truck at least

On the 1999 Mercedes SL - I have a 1996 - and they changed the V8 engines in 1999 - 1990-1998 had the M119 - near bulletproof - 4 valve/cyl DOHC - and 1999-2002 had the M113 - - SOHC - 3 valves/cylinder nearly as bulletproof but with a tad less HP.

You know your cars age old when most of the cars at the recyclers have lower mileage than yours. Still these are probably prototype - story was years ago when Honda first brought the Civic to the US there was some internal flaw - too expensive for the dealers to fix.

When I lived in San Diego in the early 80s, I fgound myself in an impound yard and there was a nearly new (~2,000 miles) Porsche 930 with the right side caved in.

I don’t see why mentioning a possible IMS issue should upset anyone - just about every car has a mechanical Achilles heel - only noticed as the car ages - and Porsche is no different.

I wonder how long-lived this drivetrain is? I guess this would fall into the suspect IMS bearing problems.

Well, years ago my neighbor had an old Toyota Dolphin motor home - and the camper part was rotting - the wood frame.

Incredible.

The driver, who is a certified jerk, is lucky he wasn’t charged with manslaughter

I can hear the rattles from here

Anyone who sees that can’t help but think of the disaster with the XB-70 prototype bomber - it was a GE promotion shoot showing the different military planes all using GE engines, and an F-104 got caught up behind the bomber in the vortices - severed the bomber’s tail

Their arrogance continues to astound me. And it wasn’t some multi billion dollar govt agency that caught them, but a few people in a small WV college.

Funny thing to me - I know that Mercedes which pioneered the auto diesel back in the 1930s now required injecting Urea into the exhaust - called Ad Blue (sounds better

I have had its predecessor, the AW-11, for 27 of its 30 years and while they are getting very rare and it generates comments, still worth only a few $1000

I remember when the original 240Z came to the states - late 1969? it was even harder to get than the original Miata. Huge backlog. This it came right after Datsun 2000. That car ate MGBs all day long. A friend gave me a ride - I sat in the back - don’t ask me how today - but I remember the shocked look of MGB and TR4

Having a car like that with non-standard US VINs - screws up insurance companies, too. And it would be such a specialized car that it might sit on their lot a long time - people don’t think of Carmax when shopping got a Slyline.

I’ll bet riding in that car is a hoot on a warm day

The typical Toyota will be even more fun to drive than it is now
