I consider a good automotive design to be as pleasant to look at 20-40-60 years into the future - as now. And of course you have to be in the future to look back and see who passed and who didn’t.

I have several but I guess the one I will mention is when I was ferrying a Euro 380SL form CA to TX for its buyer - and on I10 outside of Las Cruces NM all the idiot lights pop on.

“Oh !@#$%”, sez I, knowing most likely it is something bad involved.

I call our national club headquarters for MBCA and they give me the

I get the feeling that it is a lot less electronically aided, and more of a driver’s car

Life’s too short to drive boring cars.

$80 million seems like a bargain to build this road

Cool and eclectic collection - thanks for showing it!

One of the reasons i stopped going was the huge escalation in prices - last I went 4-5 years ago it was something like $80 for Saturday - you can save money orderingthem early, though

Until about 5 years ago (from the mid 80s) I went there every year. It really is a festival for car nuts. I’d see Carroll Shelby just walking around, Jay Leno, maybe Jim Hall of Chaparral fame....what is cool is that you can walk right up to any car in the paddoc area - a Ferrari 250GTO? The CanAm car that Deny Hume

Well, I did own a new 1972 Pinto for awhile - and what is worse, decided it was a better buy than a friend’s old 356 Porsche 356B.

There’s retail and there’s wholesale - amazing people don’t get that. Even your Ferrari Doug - did you expect them to give you $80,000?

Yep although by this time most of the wiring harnesses have been replaced. The low mileage seems go go across the entire year range.

Fangio was amazing. In 1991 he was honored at the Monterey Historics, and Daimler flew ove W W125 from 1937. They had a new 500SL pcar rigged with a video camera following him. 1st lap Fangio is waving to the crowd - 2nd lap - both hqands on the wheel and the camera car is falling behind, 3rd lap Fangio went all out -

Because they don’t know about the internals of a car? I have a 1996 R129 Mercedes SL - made from 1990-2002.

Whatever it is it’s the first time I have seen it. Isn’t it about $300 to get into Pebble Beach? Do you get a press pass?

Our car club has a national meet every 2 years - somewhere in the US - and track events are prominent. For example, in 1996 we were at Portland and used Portland International Raceway.

We tried having it at Monterey and IIRC trying to sign an agreement with Laguna Seca was iffy. The contract would have held us to the

I remember when they first came to America. The waiting list was so long - easily over 5 months to get one. The original 240Z is the purest...

My vote would be the original Mini - rich and poor had them and the car endured for decades.

No garage queens at Jay’s Garage

One thing that wasn’t said - this Miura was the prototype for all future supercars. At the time, Ferrari’s supercar was the 365 GTB/4 - the Daytona - front engined-rear drive. I guess you could say the 246 Dino was - no - they came out about the same time as the Miura.

The Miura took the auto world by storm. Perhaps

Mere Puffery was a phrase I remembered from my year in law school
