I saw one on the road a coupla weeks ago - amazing given the numbers sold. Impressive car it might be for the engineering but I gotta tell you externally - visually - I thought it was a Passat on steroids.

You know it’s coming and I still cringe

““We know from some of the research that we do that there are a lot of young folks that are not so intrigued by the traditional negotiation process, and even a group of folks that just don’t even want to go in the dealerships.””

McLaren’s stealing Ferrari designs?

1 more than a coupe or sedan

I started out thinking that loud exhaust is the only obnoxious thing - anything that irritates others - but yeah, ape hangers - loud stereos...

TopGear’s destroying an old Toyota Hilux pickup was entertaining - but to destroy a perfectly good old 911? Sad.

My mother had a 280SL for 15 years. Beautiful car but she got tired of the maintenance costs. Just about anything major to do in the engine required hood removal. In the US they made the differential low geared so at 70 you were turning 4,000 RPM. One of the neat thinkgs about them is the color combinations - you will

Plus the fact that GM originally didn’t plan on having a manual - if you want to keep manuals - some have to buy them

Good list.

Don’t even see any scars from hernia operations.

The take-home quote: “It’s half the price of the M3 but the M3 isn’t twice the car”

I finally saw Manhattan in 2006. Stayed at a wonderful little hotel next to the Chelsea. I had always heard how brusk and rude New Yorkers were, and found that untrue.

I don’t think the 914 was ever unappreciated. They had no trouble selling them when new. Porsche’s ad tag line was “The Porsche young people can afford”

Years ago when I had a 1980 Toyota Celica with 70,000 miles or so, my father bought a new Mercedes 300SD. When I told him that I admired the car he said that “Wheels are just Wheels”.

You are right about those old drivers being a breed apart. In 1991 Juan Fangio was honored at the Monterey Historic Races. He was 80 at the time, and he drove the fantastic Mercedes-Benz W125 - a GP car from 1938 that had skinny bias ply tires and 600 hp. It was a car that was a bit earlier than he but you get the

First the Enzos now the 918s

I drove one of the best pickup trucks I can remember 40 years ago. My uncle had a construction company, and he bought some new Ford F100s with the basic I6 and 3 on the tree. Rubber floor, vinyl seat. You could track dirt and mud in and it didn’t matter. Only think that would have made it better was 4 on the floor.

Yep they are pretty good too - huge selection
