I have an old Mercedes and an old Toyota - for both my first preference is the dealers - I get decent discounts and there is nothing better than factory parts - and many times they are improved over the original. That said, if the part is not available or ridiculously expensive, next on my list is NAPA. In fact, for

Maybe this is the Old Fart in me talking, but Indy used to be exciting. The STP Turbine car, all these strange custom built cars....

Still - what has been done to that engine?

Quite a story! Reminds me of a letter to the editor to our Club magazine, the MBCA Star, from Contributing editor Karl Ludvigsen. While in the Army in Germany in 1958, he traded his Renault Dauphine for a 300SL (!!!) that had been in the Mille Miglia. He sold it in the early 60s, and wonders to this day what became of

Had a 280SL Pagoda - top off under an overpass - I liked to give it the gas

I think when Miami Vice was first airing, they had a fake Daytona on a Corvette chassis - and that’s when Ferrari loaned them the white 80s Testa Risa

sad but probably true

I’m glad that not all are dickheads but for those with the $1.5 million cars not wanting anything “diluting” them, they aren’t really car people - just snobbish speculators with a “portfolio”.

In my Mercedes club we have a few members with million dollar 300SLs and a few with $5000 30 year old diesels and we all just have fun. I resisted joining the MB club for years thinking it would be full of snobs and found it as a rule to be just the opposite.

And I think this attitude represents most car clubs.

Can’t agree with you any more - there’s always exceptions to any generations but I have had that impression with Porsche Club people - although I have met a few genuine gearheads there too.

What a cool car! Before seeing the video I assumed he had something like a Chevy V8 in it - wow. And to the jerks who dismissed it as a “fake” TR, try taking your $30 million “real” TR on a spirited drive on a country road as this guy has done.

The only F1 race I ever attended was while in the Army 1973 - - saw the Nurburgring - German Grand Prix - and Jackie Stewart & his teammate Francois Cevert. Stewart went on to win with Cevert taking 2nd.

Just a few months later Cevert was to die at Watkins Glen - his head was severed.

Anyone who says bring that stuff

Starting a job without the right tools...

To me between the DS-19/21 or the 2CV. And since the 2CV was the French VW that lasted for decades my vote is for the 2CV/

Until the C7 I would have said the Porsche.

Sheesh - he had a Mercedes dealership - why was he driving this thing?

Motor Mounts - 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300E

A Hybrid? Meh. Engine isn’t even on half the time.

No Toyota MR2s? Still, quite an honor - the curator obviously felt your car was noteworthy (which it is!)

True that. Seems all Danica has is good looks and excuses.
