Yeah I think that’s a good idea, some other commentators were talking about using WJC players, which isn’t such a bad idea in my opinion (though I think there are some issues with drafted player rights).

The lack of NHLers has killed any enthusiasm I had for Olympic hockey, this is basically a charity tournament for corporations (though to be honest, when isn’t it?). Who cares if you beat a Russia with no Ovechkin or Malkin, or a Canada without Crosby or Price?

I think the NHL handles all the Stanley Cup ceremonies. Strangely enough, according to my dad, my grandfather did fetch the Stanley Cup once when he was a kid, I think it was for Montreal Maroons, though I can’t say for sure (or that this even actually happened to be honest).
