Does anybody else remember the Laura Ingalls Wilder 'as-an-adult' books? I had all 8 of them when I was younger and I loved them so much, but I can't remember the name of the books/series. It dealt with Laura and her husband, and the daughter Rose who turned into a flapper around book 7. I can't remember much more…

The "Ramona" series by Beverly Cleary is awesome!

Anything by Gail Carson Levine, but especially "Ella Enchanted" (don't watch the movie). They have the entire fairytale princess stuff, but they also have strong heroines who don't need prince's to rescue them. In this same vein, the comic book ‘The Courageous Princess" is fantastic.
