I miss Annalee.
I need to apologise, the comment wasn’t as funny as i first thought, my friend who is sat next to me pointed out what an asshole comment it was and i agree, i was going to delete it but all i had was an option to edit.
I was being a dick, and i’m sorry.
Really? I thought Raising Steam was probably one of the best of the entire Discworld series.
But you can’t read it without thinking “man, this would have been so much better as an actual finished book.”
Late one night, a shadowy figure crept from behind the bookshelves in his office. In the darkness it rather resembled a leathery bag of potatoes as it waddled over to the computer. It hauled itself into the chair, fired up the PC, and began navigating the file system.
At least there won’t be some kind of “Go Set a Watchman” travasty where someone presents a not-great first draft as a “new work” by a great writer.
I started reading Discworld a year ago and there are lines in the Death books that absolutely crush me when I read them. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the longtime fans.
That’s not it. ACT is an anti-Muslim far-right-wing society that manifests rallies in support of Trump with a viciously ugly religious agenda.
“Die, Jew” is not a political belief.
I am kind of surprised and delighted at the sheer amount of vitriol the trailer provoked, since I thought I was the only one who hated that book.
What? People can be fired for damn near anything in most states. One of the heads of my department was fired due to personality disagreements (they didn’t get along) with the President of the company, and it was a totally legal termination.
Well here’s the thing, they can’t fire you over your political beliefs but they can fire people for being raciest assholes since a lot of work places have policies in place that state that it will not be tolerated.
As you are trying to seem reasonable, if slightly off-target with your reasoning from my perspective, I will respond and attempt to argue my point of view on the subject in an equally reasonable manner.
If your political view is “Blacks should be killed or shipped to Africa” then your employer has every right to distance themselves from your shitty opinion to protect their business.
I’d rather my tax dollars pay for their welfare so they can shut up about how wonderful and cushy it is to live on it. I want them to PULL THEMSELVES UP BY THE BOOTSTRAPS!
I’m pretty sure marching in formation in Nazi regalia and makeshift weapons (showing the intent to intimidate), marching in a literal torch mob (showing the intent to intimidate), shouting hateful and often violent racial rhetoric (showing the intent to intimidate or incite violence) and assaulting other protestors…
There’s a dividing line. someone belonging to a hate group or supporting things like white supremacy/nazism can be fired with no moral qualms. Those aren’t “political” views.
I had an “argument” on the internet many moons ago about the importance of vision to the art-form of moving pictures. I called out a blind movie critic. I said that a blind person is missing about 70% of the medium. There are so many movies that rely on visuals for small clues and storytelling. Like “Dark Crystal”…
Yeah, it’s one of those movies people tend to either love or hate, no middle ground. As for my part, it is my favorite movie ever. Why? I don’t really know. It came out at a time in my childhood where all the planets were aligned for me (no joke intended here), and it just . . . spoke to me. The story is almost…
