I watched the Pittsburgh vintage grand prix this past summer, and I have to say, the Alfas RULED. If it took 2000 hours of wrenching to get 10 minutes of that sound out of the car once a year, it would be worth it. What could possibly make that heavenly sound?

CID numbers bring tears of joy to my eye. This is so much better than "2013 Corvette 7liter."

I think I love you.

I don't even.

Mopar forums:

Preach it, brother!

Think of these cars as if they were motorcycles. If I ever live my dream of a Caterham daily driver, I'll helmet up for a trip to the corner market.

The best ad for the 1988 Hyundai Excel was the claim of the LAPD that they clocked Rodney King doing over 110 in one.

I'm with you. I just can't get excited about it, damn the numbers. With regard to car show appearances, I've only seen one GT-R, and the owner wasn't anywhere to be seen, even though the owners of other cars (even Porsches!) stood by and talked with people.

Apple went through a large portion of its history with a slant typeface on its keyboards.

RE: Today in Automotive History

To me, outrageous features like that are beautiful *because* they are functional. I actually have no idea what the purpose of the shark fin might be, other than lateral aerodynamic stability, but I figure at this level of competition, every form has its function.

+1 for non-metaphoric use of "eccentric."

In other news, reselling your unlimited free drink refills at the Subway sandwich shop still not a felony, either.

I find the "driving simulator" part of GT5 pretty compelling in itself, but as you point out, it could be better. Why do you think they have 1000+ cars? There are hundreds and hundreds of cars modeled in the game that have no place on a racetrack, but having them and driving them, getting a feel for the differences

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Yes. I miss these ads desperately.

This. A thousand times. This.

With this, and the recent "strongman" ad story, Do you think maybe the Jalopnik editorial board is involved in some kind of a sting operation against Ford Tempo Fanatic?

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
